APPLE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE
1 cup flour
1/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup white sugar
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup milk
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
Sauce:
1 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup water
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cream margarine and sugar. Stir in beaten egg.
Combine flour and baking powder. Alternately stir flour mixture, milk and vanilla into margarine mixture.
Chop 4 apples. Spread apples into 9” square cake pan. Pour batter over apples. Boil sauce for 10 minutes and pour sauce over batter.
Bake 30 minutes at 350°F. Serve with whipped cream.
